Mental Health and Work: Professional Rehabilitation and Psychology Contributions

Abstract

This text examines the interlocution between work and the determinants of suffering in the mental health/disease process from the perspective of the Psychodynamics of Work. To this end, it discusses the complexity of the causal nexus between certain forms of work organization and the development of diseases, especially mental disorders and issues related to professional rehabilitation. The discussion stresses the potential role of psychology in listening spaces to help individuals in their relationship with work. Finally, this study calls attention to the need for the psychologist to be neutral before these situations, aiming to reaffirm the professional ethics in the transformation of the social reality.
