CREPOP: Public Policies, Human Rights, and the Social Commitment of Psychology

Abstract:

The Technical Reference Center for Psychology and Public Policies (CREPOP) is a permanent project of the Federal Council of Psychology and of the Regional Councils of Psychology (CRPs). It enacts one of the legal functions of the autarchy: to guide the professional category. Its innovative nature stems from its working methodology, which ensures that reference themes are defined based on the demands of the professional category (bottom-up). Its methodological development prioritizes dialogue with psychologists by surveys, public consultations, and its range of activities since it is functions throughout Brazil. This study briefly overviews the CREPOP trajectory, building a dialogical reading with analyses of public policies in National Psychology Congresses and of publications related to the National Psychology Seminars. This study aims to show the relation between the work CREPOP carries out and the Social Commitment of Psychology over the last 18 years.
