Evolution of the Policy of Guidance and Inspection in Psychology in 50 years

Abstract:

This study aims to contribute to a contextualized performance of psychology professionals. It historicizes the creation of the profession and the regulatory body of the class, analyses professional legislation over the past 50 years, and describes the understanding of members of the Regional Psychology Councils (CRPs) about the main difficulties and challenges for the Federal Psychology Council (CFP) and the CRPs in this trajectory over five decades. The authors researched, read, and systematized CFP data and resolutions. This enabled them to find the failures in training and the limits of legal support that affect psychology professionals. This study concludes that, although the resolutions validate professional performance in a pluriverse scenario, gaps are yet to be filled in guiding ethical and technical action across populations, including those of people with disabilities. Thus, this study defends the adoption of CFP measures and evinces the need for greater academic production that can build psychological instruments across populations, including people with disabilities. Finally, this study points to the need to constantly update CRPS and the CFP due to the rapid growth of the category.
