The initial analysis of the journal Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão allows to divide it into two very different periods: before and after taking over as a scientific journal. This decision, taken at the right time, placed the journal in one of the most important groups of the area, as attested by Capes. It seems, however, that its membership in a professional category makes it a journal different from the usual: as well as scientific articles, its publishing project includes the publication of reports of experience. To understand what this may indicate, this article explores the transition from institutional review to a journal in the context of scientific publishing in Brazil.
