Integration to higher education and academic satisfaction in undergraduates

The present work had as objectives to evaluate the integration and the academic satisfaction in undergraduates, and to analyse its relations according to the course and to the period of study. 203 private psychology (n=76) and odontology (n=127) university students participated in the study. The majority of the students were female (n=158). It was applied the Academic Experiences Questionnaire (QVA-r) and the Scale of Academic Satisfaction (ESEA). The results revealed that the students presented levels of integration and satisfaction above the average. Differences between the courses in relation to the focused variables and correlations between the dimensions were detected. It is possible to affirm that integration and satisfaction, despite sharing common aspects, evaluate different constructs. They are both important for the understanding of the complex and multi- determined phenomena of academic life.
