João Pessoa's school psychologists' actions about difficulties at schooling process

This present research aimed to know João Pessoa's school psychologists' conceptions and practices about difficulties at schooling process. For that, semi-structured interviews were realized, based on School Psychology's literature, with thirty psychologists from public and private schools. The results revealed the diversity of difficulties at schooling process directed to school psychologists, emphasizing those about behavioral or learning complaints centered on students. Regarding the causes assigned by the respondents to school problems, they emphasized the family dynamics of the student, although this has been mentioned for different reasons in public and state schools and private schools. In addition, the actions of the professionals interviewed suggest the traditional practices, as they do not involve interdisciplinary and institutional work as a strategic way to deal with school problems. These results were discussed considering the school psychologist role as a promoting agent of interpersonal relations and learning process.
