Affectivity and performance of the school psychologist

In this article we investigate the concepts and practices of the school psychologist about the affectivity in teacher-student relationships. To reach our goal, we conducted interviews with four school psychologists from the city of Salvador, who work in private and elementary schools. The qualitative data analysis contributed to the elaboration of three main perspectives: 1) The role and work demands of the school psychologist, 2) conceptions of psychologists about the affectivity in teaching mediation, 3) strategies to support teachers in pedagogical mediation. Most of the data analyzed denoted there are several aspects in which the psychologist can work and set up operations with a focus on affection, as a closer relation between faculty and teaching coordination. The psychologist can also give assistance in preparing the curriculum and specific projects, in implementing educational projects for teachers, in observing classroom and promoting reflections on teaching and teachers.
