Abstract
It aims to identify the competencies experienced by health students during the care of women in situations of gender violence in a university extension project. Gender domestic violence is a public health problem and should consist of the training of health professionals. We analyzed 10 interviews of undergraduate nursing and medical students who participated in the assistance to women in situations of violence in a university extension project of FCMSCSP. The concept of competence allows to illuminate and analyze the learning and attributes essential for the development of good care practices by future health professionals in the construction of solutions to the different health problems of people, families, and the community, adding the social dimension to the processes of illness.
