Morality and responsibility en somber times

This essay is intended to discuss the issue of morality in times of crisis based on the contributions of English psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott concerning the emergence of concern for the other and the reflections of Polish sociologist Zygmunt Baumann on morality and responsibility. We conclude by suggesting that our challenge Iies precisely in the development of our capacity to imagine, with the objective of overcoming the equation proposed between proximity-morality/distance-immorality. Perhaps only the power of imagination, the power with which a person succeeds in imagining himself in the other's place, may give us some hope and allow use to feel morally responsible for one another, even at a distance.

Responsibility; creativity; imagination
