Audio Technology in Ethnomusicology

Study about the relation of the ethnomusicology with the audio technology covering the main technological and conceptual developments of these two areas since the late nineteenth century. It aims at covering the history of the former since the systematic musicology until the present centering on the technology that characterized the way, calling attention to less covered questions. The methodological procedures were: bibliographic and field research, document and behavior analysis in recording studio and acoustic analysis. It suggests the existence of some landmarks in the historical process and that any factor related with the phonographic production process may exert influence on the acoustic result of a recorded musical manifestation. It also calls attention to the need of more research on the influence of technical and conceptual elements of phonographic production on oral transmission manifestations.
