ABSTRACT: Blends of organosilicon polymers with polystyrene, PS, were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, and dynamical mechanical analysis. Blends with poly(tetramethylsilphenylene-siloxane), PTMPS, had a morphology characterized by globular domains dispersed in the polystyrene matrix, when the PS content was high. A morphology typical of phase inversion was observed for the 50/50 PS/PTMPS blend. An apparent miscibility was observed when PS was mixed with poly(dimethylsilphenylene), PDSP, in all compositions under study.
