Insertion in the community and analysis of needs: thoughts on the practice of the psychologist

This paper analyses the process of insertion of the psychologist in the community, relating it to the resultant type of analysis of necessities. The possibilities that were available in Brazil during the last decades are presented with a discussion of the political and social concerns and the type of objectives that have guided community psychology practices. Then, the consequences derived of this insertion process is discussed, focusing the consequences to the psychologist-community relationship and to the construction of the identitiy of both. The paper describes the characteristics and the instrumentalization of practices which present a posteriori objectives, based on a a critical and historic social psychology, relating it to the analysis of necessities that follows.
