A case study of an automation and information integrated plan implementation in a petrochemical company is presented, and analised its implications with plant process engineering production schedulling and work organization. Identifieded several "automatin/informatin islands" in the plant, reinforcing the approach of undertaking a process rationalization before and during the plan implementation. It-was also verifieded a work force reduction in the plant and changes in the work content.
