This work intends to present concepts and applications of Category Management, as an ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) fundamental tool. It also intends to show that the use of a multicriteria decision methodology, particularly the techniques that use decision matrices, can be excellent alternatives in decision making support, if incorporated to ECR. In order to illustrate the issue, a model has been developed, followed by a practical example of usage.
