Evaluation model of knowledge management in the product development process: aplication in a case study

This paper describes an application of a model of Knowledge Management (KM) evaluation in the Product Development (PD) process, mainly focused on mapping the occurrence of four types of (knowledge) conversion in some deployments of four dimensions (of this process). This model was built supported by "state of the art" literature (hypothesis and best practices, that relates knowledge conversion with the PD dimensions). The obtained model shows a significant effectiveness in elaboration of a wide view of KM situation embedded in PD process in a company. The application of this model in a complete case of PD in an automotive assembler showed its practical viability and special usefulness in pointing out the KM gaps in the PD process of such a company.
