An exploratory study of collaborative logistics in a large supermarket chain

This research discusses the logistic cooperation elements important for building a better relationship between a retailer and its suppliers. These elements were identified in the literature and observed in a case study based on a large supermarket chain. The research refers to the theories concerning the nature of collaboration, the logistic performance and the economy of transaction costs. Among the factors commonly cited in the collaboration process, such as trust, reciprocity, information sharing, interaction between functional areas, joint objectives and targets, and interpersonal integration, the results suggest that the latter particularly is the most important in the collaborative process.
