Role-play is a psychodramatic technique that contributes to the development of a social, personal, or professional role, either performed or to be assumed. This study is an integrative literature review, aimed at identifying the contexts in which the role-play technique has been applied, including the target public, participant samples, objectives, contexts, and outcomes. Twelve publications were included in this research. There is a variety of target public, samples and contexts. The objectives focused on social and communication aspects. The results of applying role-play included enhanced security in the role development, empathy, identification of future anxieties, expanded awareness, and coping strategies. The conclusion is that role-play demonstrates effective applicability in several environments involving role development.
