Homoerotic territoriality: notes for studies on gender

This paper is the result of a research that investigated the social relations of women who have affective and sexual relationships with other women and who socialized at a place recognized as a GLS (gay, lesbian and sympathizers) ghetto. The research was developed as an ethnographic exercise, obtaining data through field observations and interviews. The data was analyzed by content analysis. This article privileges the approach of the meanings attributed by these women to the relations they have established at that location, and that is revealed as being a mediation in constituting the subjects. The errant territoriality, transit and the positions of the subjects in networks of sociability are highlighted. The results shows us a perspective of maintaining these places under a configuration that refers to the separation of people much more than a possible aggregation of different people in freely shared places. They contemplate the themes of equality/difference, (in)visibility, protection, exclusion, tolerance and prejudice.
