PSYCHOSOCIAL REHABILITATION AND SOCIAL REINTEGRATION OF DRUG USERS: LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

Given the ambiguity in drug policies regarding the definition of 'psychosocial rehabilitation' and 'social reintegration' as well as 'social inclusion', it is necessary to better define them theoretically in the context of the health care of people facing problems due to the use of alcohol and other drugs. In this article, we analyze critically how these expressions are approached in the scientific literature in the field of alcohol and other drugs. For this, a narrative review of the literature was carried out. It is noted that the terms are often used synonymously, so that conceptual imprecision is shown both in legislative documents and in reports of research and experience in the area. When differentiated, psychosocial rehabilitation often refers to an individual process, while social reintegration is linked to institutional and community contexts.

Keywords:
drug abuse; social reintegration; psychosocial rehabilitation; social inclusion
