PLEASURE AND SUFFERING AT WORK: EXPERIENCES IN THE PRODUCTION OF SEMI-JEWELS

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the experiences of pleasure and suffering in the labor of women who work in three semi-jewelry factories located in Limeira-SP (Brazil). As method, individual interviews were conducted with six workers from the sales and shipping sectors. Their testimonials were analyzed using Content Analysis and discussed from the main concepts of Work Psychodynamics. It was evidenced that the real work situations that generate suffering for the workers are mainly focused on the repetitive, accelerated and interrupted form of work organization, the pressure from the fear of making mistakes and the relationship with clients and peers, which many sometimes present bullying. However, the daily learning, the handling of the semi-jewelry pieces, the appreciation of hierarchies and clients and their loyalty appear as one of the favorable elements for subjectivity and pleasure at work.
