The historical journey through Latin America

From of the studies that marked Sílvia Lane's construction of a Social Psychology focused on our reality, the paper reports her journey to six Latin American capitals undertaken in the beginning of the 1980's. The journey revealed to be rich in opportunity to closely know projects focused especially on populations submitted to various types of opression and exploitation, some of which are described in detail. The text was organized in a way to show the reader some antecedent conditions (The previous experience of the travelers and that of Lane's in community psychology), the project (the possible choices related to field research), the journey (procedures and results of the interactions that were established, with information that permitted to recover projects that were visited) and, finally, some implications of trying to learn with colleagues and projects in a reality so close to ours.
