POSSIBLE DIALOGUES BETWEEN THE SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS THEORY AND OTHER PARADIGMS OF SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY

Abstract

As an essay, this article aims to reflect on the possible dialogues between the social representations theory and other theoretical and methodological paradigms of social psychology. In this analysis, at first, we approach the relevant connections’ minutiae between social representations and socio-cognitive processes currently studied under the social cognition perspective. Different studies that theorize these dialogues are elicited, conceiving a new front in research tuned with the articulation between cognitive functioning and social regulations. The final considerations corroborate the apprehended and described investigations, since such intercrossing not only fosters the improvement of the social representations theory, but also reaches a broader field: the social psychology’s. Furthermore, the engagement on empirical researches is suggested in order to comprehend the psychosocial phenomena of individuals and groups.
