SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS OF LEISURE AND FREE TIME AMONG ADOLESCENTS: DUALITIES WITHOUT MISMATCH

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to identify and understand the social representations of leisure activities and free time of middle-class adolescentes from Vitória-ES. Twenty-four students, 14 to 17 years old, divided into four groups, submitted to focal group technique and content analysis, participated in the research. It was observed that the representations of adolescents anchor, mainly, in the current social values, being the notions of productivity, priority to study and compensatory rest quite present. It was also observed that the representations of leisure present positive and healthy experiences, such as the socialization between parents and friends and the practice of sports activities.
