The study aimed to identify the masculine and feminine roles of the mothers of victimized children and adolescents. A gender perspective was taken on the confrontation or the maintenance of domestic violence. Nine women, aged 26 to 68 years old participated in group meetings in which projective, corporal and dramatic techniques were used. Results showed that sexist mother-child transmission, association between masculinity and violent behavior, and lack on the recognition of their own skills may maintain violence. In the context of violence, psychologists have to promote strategies of intervention that focus on the empowerment of the participants, improving their knowledge about citizenship and protective policies and services.
