Epistemic Implication of the Theologian in the Theological Method

ABSTRACT

One of the novelties of Latin American Theology is based on considering that the Christian experience of the theologian is essential from a methodological point of view. They do not want to be neutral towards their object of study. On the contrary, they intend to participate in the struggles of oppressed collectives. This article deals primarily with the relationship between professional theologians and the communities or collectives they wish to serve. Are they help to make explicit the liberating paths of their experience of God or are they to lead their liberation? The current research underlines that the poor must be considered the first intellectual protagonists of their own liberation. This can be considered one of the most important conclusions of the discovery that the Latin American and Caribbean Church has made of its theological vocation.
