Faith in Revelation: the Reasons for our Hope According to João Batista Libanio

ABSTRACT

The provided text discusses the exploration of the works of J. B. Libanio, specifically those related to his main chair in fundamental theology. The article proposes, firstly, to revisit one of his major works, the result of several years of teaching: “The Theology of Revelation from Modernity”. Secondly, a re-reading of the treatise on faith, the believer’s response to revelation, is carried out, now facing challenges of post-modernity in the work “I believe, we believe”. Thirdly, attention is given to a work that can be considered a small testament, published shortly after his departure: “Introduction to Fundamental Theology”. Finally, in conclusion, some questions are raised to reflect with Libanio on the perspectives of this discipline in a constantly changing world. Despite the ongoing changes, we Christians have the task of seeking the reasons for our hope.
