The Church “Going Forth” in the Light of Ecclesial Kenosis

ABSTRACT

The article presents the consequences of the proposal of the Church “going forth”, in the light of Balthasar’s theological concept of ecclesial kenosis, enabling it to be more missionary and closer to people’s lives, with the irreversible continuation of the Second Vatican Council. The aim of the article is to make this study a valuable contribution to the journey of the “outgoing” Church, which is moving towards today’s demands, always looking at the signs of the times. It considers the concept of primeirear, necessary for this process, of going “out”, as well as the act of leaning in to listen and serve better. Christian experience shows that the Church’s mission is best carried out in “outgoing” communities, ready and open to dialog and service in the world. However, pastoral conversion is necessary. The transformation of structures implies continuous processes, so the theology and pastoral care of the Church “going forth” must be done on its knees, emphasizing its kenotic and synodal character.
