Silence and Cry: Aesthetics of the Passion in Mark

SUMMARY

This paper presents a narrative analysis of the Passion in the Gospel of Mark with a view to an aesthetic interpretation. The classical method of literary studies is used to analyze this narrative. The purpose of this study is to read the Passion narrative from an analysis of the text as an aesthetic artifact and from its poetic configuration, because we consider that in the aesthetic shock there is also a religious experience with its own theological content. A state of the art is presented with respect to the latest theological and literary research with respect to the Passion narrative and, when necessary, the research refers to the historical discoveries that have been made by the most prominent specialists in Mark. Thus, it is discovered that in this text it is impossible to separate the aesthetics from the theological message and that in the form of the work there is a deep content.
