Relationship between measures Assessment of Written Language in the Elementary School students

This study examined the relationship between reading and writing for elementary students, and searched for evidence of convergent validity, discriminant and concurrent criterion among the instruments used. Five hundred nineteen students participated, both sexes, between 7 and 10 years (M= 9.66, SD=1.5), the second to the fifth year of public schools in a city in the Recôncavo of Bahia. The instruments were collectively applied a questionnaire to identify the subject, the teste de Cloze, the Escala de Avaliação da Escrita (EAVE) and Reconhecimento de Palavras (EREP). It was possible to construct validity convergent- discriminant between the instruments, and the Cloze was sensitive to capture the relationship between the learning of writing and reading comprehension. Students with low reading performance were the worst performers in writing, covering evidence of concurrent criterion validity for the instruments used.
