This article analyses a film based on a play by Ariel Dorfman called "Death and the Maiden". The film, which carries the same title, was released in 1994 and directed by Roman Polanski. It is a psychological thriller featuring only three characters: Paulina, Miranda and Escobar, played by Sigorney Weaver, Ben Kingsley and Stuart Wilson, respectively.
