Power, crisis, and insurgency in Brazil and the right to have rights

Abstract

This essay reflects on the conditions of power in a society marked by the emergence of conservatism that puts at risk the dignity and human rights achieved in the post-military dictatorship period in Brazil. Based on the thought of critical authors, we make considerations about how to face this new social configuration and guarantee the protection of human rights. To this end, thinking about the role of the university in a praxeological perspective of political action committed to social change presupposes the search for alternatives, psycho-political ways out, for a capitalist society submerged in a crisis of civilization. As part of this analysis, we address cases such as the assassination of Marielle Franco, due to the advance of conservatism and of the political violence that accompanies it.
