The state and the formulatin of a national sports policy in Brazil

The meaning of the concept of Sports has suffered modifications in the whole world in recent years, pointing out not only the importance of this sector as an activity of leisure or competition, but also as an economic activity, important in the process of social inclusion and in the reduction of problems related to health and education. This new meaning of the concept requires permanent participation of the State. This article has the objective to contribute to the formulation of a National Sports Policy in Brazil, based on a documentary research of academic works and laws on the subject. The fragility of the Brazilian Sports Policy became clear and also how it failed to become embedded in the state administrative structure. However it was observed that hopefully some political actors show increasing articulation propitiating advances in the process of a Sports Policy formulation.
