Difficulties using information technology

The increased competitiveness constantly searched by companies has required an intelligent and fast on-going management process. An efficient information management is seen as crucial to the survival of companies. The adoption and implementation of Information Technologies (IT) has led sometimes to wastefulness and frustration due to non-observance of specific problems. This study aims to identify social, technical and financial factors that inhibit the adoption of IT at two micro regions in the south of Brazil. The method applied was a descriptive study. The data analysis was carried on how the factors mentioned in the worldwide literature are understood and really used by companies in the studied region. The result shows that the companies have a satisfactory IT infrastructure for the users. However the training need, shortage of technical support, absence of motivation politicies and cultural resistance, among others factors, all of them hinder a more appropriate utilization of ITs.
