Prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in forest harvesting machine operators

The process of illness among workers is related to the way that work is performed. The main consequence of the inadequacies of the work are the Repetitive Strain Injury/ Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms in forest harvesting machine operators. From the use of the census of ergonomics and the Nordic standard questionnaire, the data were obtained in a forestry-based company that performed mechanical harvest of wood. The results showed that the musculoskeletal prevalence in operators was high, with symptoms related to RSI / WMSD. At the end of the study, it can be concluded that the operators’ work activity could be producing negative effects on their health.
