This paper aims to identify the factors that contribute to the growth of maturity in project management in public organizations. It argues that project management is critical to improve organizational performance, alignment of organizational activities with the strategic objectives, and encourage the development of innovations, development of new goods and services and improvement of organizational efficiency. Methodologically, we adopted a quantitative descriptive approach, in which a survey was conducted with 161 managers at the level of coordination and sub coordination, allowing a sampling error of less than 6% for 95% of confidence. Conclusively, the study identified eight factors that represent the vision of managers to maturity in the management of public projects, especially the perception that the visibility afforded to managers is one of the determining factors for the increase in maturity.
