ABSTRACT - (Indigofera L. (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae) in the state of São Paulo, Brazil). In an inventory for the state of São Paulo, accomplished with herbaria material and plants collected in the field, there were found nine species of Indigofera L.: I. asperifolia Bong. ex Benth., I. bongardiana (Kuntze) Burk. var. bongardiana, I. guaranitica Hassl., I. hirsuta L., I. lespedezioides Kunth, I. spicata Forssk., I. suffruticosa Mill. subsp. suffruticosa, I. trita subsp. scabra (Roth) De Kort & Thijsse and I. truxillensis Kunth. Four of these species are cited for the first time for the state and two, I. spicata and I. trita subsp. scabra, are cited for the first time for Brazil. Descriptions and illustrations for the species as well as a key for identification of these taxa are presented.
