Sychronous colorrectal câncer: a case report and literature review

That is a case report of a patient with a cancer of right colon and synchronous neoplasia of rectum. The objectives of this study are to discuss advantages of colonoscopy in diagnosis of synchronous tumor and to discern about more relevant prognostic factors in long-term survival of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Our sources of research were patient's records and Medline, Lilacs and Scielo data base. We conclude that: 1) Colonoscopy allows complete evaluation of colon with pre-operative diagnose of synchronous tumors, what is important to surgical treatment most of all, and 2) The most important factors in survival of patients with CRC are Dukes' stage, degree of differentiation of tumor and extension of surgery resection.
