This article reflects on the relation between fashion and female body, having as guiding principle the changes in female silhouette. It starts with the hypothesis that fashion creates wishes and needs by suggesting changes and adjustments to adapt the shape of the female body. It starts with a theoretical discussion about body and fashion, confronting then these two themes. Later there is a reflection on some pictures of magazine Manequim and newspaper Zero Hora, between the periods 1960 to 2000. It was observed that the media has really influenced the shape of women's bodies, which often must adapt the suggested formats of the clothes to wear fashionable clothes.
