The public budget for sport and leisure in Brazil: the participation of federated entities (2013-2022)

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to analyze how the public budget for the Sports and Leisure Function (SLF) has been materialized by the different federated entities of the Brazilian State from 2013 to 2022. It is a descriptive research, of a quantitative and qualitative nature, carried out based on documentary analysis, based on the magnitude of expenditure indicator. The research data reveals that: the different federated entities significantly varied their spending on SLF in the period; Municipalities were the federative entity that invested the most in SLF, in addition to more than 90% of them having agreed to allocate financial resources to SLF; all States/Federal District directed resources to the SLF during the period, but they were the second federated entity that spent the most; and the Union was the one with the lowest investment.
