Abstract
Since the 70's the sport is part of different social actions toward child and youth criminality reduction. The aim of this article is to discuss data from a case study developed in a sporting project that received young offenders as part of the fulfillment of a social-educational measure. We interviewed the workers who supervised the youngsters during their re-socialization process. The results indicated that the worker's conception and understanding about sport are functional and utilitarian.
