Abstract
The aim of this study was to characterize the demands and financial resources of the Santa Catarina State Sports Fund for the sports proposals submitted to the State Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Sport of Santa Catarina from 2007 to 2014. The documentary analysis included 5.704 proposals. The data shows a minor financial support turned to coaches, talent identification, and sports participation and youth sports. In addition, the results showed a decrease in the public funds distribution, as well as a financial resources concentration for programs focused on athletes and teams, infrastructure, and sporting events. When we observe the falling budget and the preference of the tripod'athlete-infrastructure-event', it indicates focused polities on a specific part of the population in a sitting on high sports performance.
