Abstract
This paper discusses the theoretical and methodological implications of the use of the notions of individual and subject in the Human and Social Sciences. Then we introduce a second discussion, involved from the beginning, concerning the cognizance of the body and its relations with the politics. Finally, this reflection approaches the universal and the particular tension in this instance that can be called Judeo-Christian culture. The issue arises for its relevance and contemporaneity, noting that the body is at the center of political discussion. This discussion always implies, in one or another way, that a knowledge of the body is put into play, and that such knowledge is articulated in politics, in its institutional dimension or regarding to speaking beings as such, i.e. speaking bodies.
