Open-access The circus in initial training in physical education: an autoethnography report

Abstract

The study presents on autoethnography as a research method, a possibility of systematisation circus knowledge in initial training in physical education. To this end, participant observation was used during an academic semester (40 hours) in a public institution of higher education in the State of São Paulo in Brazil. Field journal, photographic records of classes in addition to the informal conversations students were research instruments. Results demonstrated excellent receptiveness on the part of the students, with experiences that favored the autonomy and decision making. Early existence of the discipline in the curriculum was an agent facilitator. Other factors the process were the large number of students per class and the reduced workload of the discipline.
