Abstract
The aim of the study was to analyze the pre-competitive stress symptoms in adolescent handball athlete. The instrument, List of Pre-competitive Stress Symptoms for Children and Youth, was administered to 97 adolescents of both sexes, 30 minutes before the first game of a state event. Boys and girls presented mean values of moderate stress (2.6 ± 0.6 points and 2.7 ± 0.6 points, respectively). We concluded that competition in the early years of adolescence is a potential source of stress in boys and girls.
