Relation between the final actions which resulted in gol scored and to play in home in the Brazilian championship 2009 - Serie A

Abstract

The aim of this study was to quantify the occurrence of assists, finishing and area that ball goes, to compare the frequency of the variables between the home teams and visitors. The data were composed of 1,094 goals scored in 380 games. The analysis of goals scored was made based on the technique of manual annotation (scout). The comparisons of variable frequency between the home teams and visitors were carried out by means of the chi-square test of proportions, with a significance level of p < 0.05. The primary site for assistance with the ball in motion was the central area of the field. The finishing that resulted in goals scored occurred in greater number in the central area. In all of the variables analyzed there was the prevalence of the home teams.
