Abstract:
The goal of this paper consists in identifying the key elements that constitute the worldview of 2020 candidates for mayor of the city of Macapá who are connected to bolsonarismo. The study was based on semi-structured interviews with the four candidates who sought to associate their backgrounds to the image of the President. The article analyzes their affirmations, organizing them into three semantic groupings: neoliberalism, moral conservatism and anti-establishment rhetoric. The analysis of these semantic groupings highlighted two important elements: first, the robust ideological and discursive cohesion of bolsonarismo, even considering its local manifestation in a city that is geographically and institutionally far from the hegemonic center of the country; and second, the larger relative role played by two facets of the bolsonarista worldview, militarism and pentecostal moral conservatism.
