Autonomy in law: armed forces in national constitutions

This paper will analyze the differences between the function, mission, and role of the Armed Forces as guaranteed by each Brazilian constitution from the 1824 Imperial Constitution to the current one, the 1988 Constitution. We conclude that the autonomy of the military is guaranteed by law; therefore, it is difficult to place limitations on the power of the Armed Forces.
