Abstract:
This paper analyzes the relationship between the conditions of the emergence of youth justice and the historical forms of incorporation of social rights into citizenship status in England and Brazil. Focusing on the comparison of the historical experiences of these two countries and highlighting their similarities and differences, the paper relates the emergence of youth justice to the analytical notions of social rights as welfare, in England, and of social rights as tutelage, in Brazil.
