Weber e Tolstoy: approches

Abstract

The literary production of Goethe, Dostoyevsky and Tolstoy, to quote just a few names, is present in the intellectual elaboration of several thinkers from the 19th to the 20th century, such as Freud and Marx. For Weber it is no different. In this work, we intend to explore some of Tolstoy's works to gather points of remarkable convergence with Weberian thought. More than a supplier of metaphors or illustrations, Tolstoy allows us to broaden the field of vision in which Weber exposes some of his important conceptual moments, such as the disenchantment of the world, or background theoretical reflections, such as the ethical irrationality of the world and the concepts of rationality and rationalization, as well as the relationships between human action and history. We seek to approximate these theoretical moments of Weber with Tolstoy's fictional work, punctually indicating a triangulation with Goethe and Dostoevsky. Such an approximation makes literature a place of great importance for theoretical consideration or, at least, allows a deepening of its elaboration and exposition in its concepts.
