Abstract
In 2001, the Brazilian government, concerned about housing deficit problems, created the Housing Leasing Program (PAR). As a main prerogative, we believe that the program, in addition to reducing the housing deficit, also influences the labor market in the construction sector. In order to check this hypothesis, we use as an empirical strategy a Regression Discontinuity Design, besides applying several tests of robustness in our model, which guarantees us more accurate results. We have verified that the PAR can increase the jobs and the wages of the actors inserted in the labor market of the civil construction.
